Artist in Residence
2026 AIR program
Expressions of interest are now open for our 2026 Darwin Visual Arts Artist in Residence (AIR) Program. Residencies commence from late August or early September 2026.
The space
- Fully air-conditioned and lockable private studio
- 24/7 access
- WiFi included
- Kitchen facilities
- Practical and creative support from the DVA team
- $65 per week
The residency program
Artists are invited to propose their preferred residency duration and focus for their studio period. During the residency, artists are expected to:
- Share one public outcome per month. This may include an open studio, artist talk, workshop, demonstration, or other public program that engages with the DVA community.
- Participate in an artist interview with Darwin Visual Arts, which will be shared as part of an online artist profile.
- Present a body of work developed during the residency through a presentation at DVA. Darwin Visual Arts will support promotion through our website, social media channels and printed promotional materials.
Application process
To apply, please submit your expression of interest to generalmanagerdvaa@gmail.com including:
- A proposal (up to 500 words) or a 3-minute video outlining your intentions for the residency and proposed outcomes
- Preferred dates and residency duration
- Artist CV
- Portfolio or up to 10 images/examples of your work
