Darwin Visual Arts Gallery invites you to come and open a window into your SUBCONSCIOUS at the DVA final members' show for 2026. Subconscious is made up of 44 artists and over 70 pieces of art, in all sorts of mediums!
They will be sharing their inner river: their visions and inspiration, the images that seized them and wouldn’t let go. The ones that bubbled up from the subconscious and made their way into this reality. A must-see exhibition to end our creative 2026 year!
OPENING NIGHT is: Friday 13th of November 6pm. Come join us!

Darwin Visual Arts Association (DVAA) was established and incorporated on 2 August, 1983
It began life through the collective efforts of artists who wanted a place to make and exhibit their work. Throughout DVAA’s history, it has maintained a very active exhibition program exhibiting local, national and international artists and presenting artists both informative and established stages of their careers.
Mission
The Darwin Visual Arts Association (DVAA, or later, DVA Inc) is an artist-run space that is committed to the advancement of contemporary art that is relevant in the local, national, and international context. DVAA provides a forum for the production and exhibition of Territory, Australian and International contemporary art and related practices.
DVA supports local artists at all stages of their careers by building capacity for creative practice and fostering critical dialogue through exhibitions, artist studios, artist talks, publications, resources, events and special projects. DVAA gives artists direct control over the means and conditions of presenting their work to the public. Whilst there are other galleries in Darwin and the surrounding region artists who actively choose to exhibit at DVAA do so because of the artistic freedom that this space offers and the artistic community involved in the organisation.
Vision
DVAA aspires to be recognised as a regional hub and incubator for emerging and established artists, curators and arts writers; and as a leader in engaged artistic practice that links artists, organisations and communities across the region.

Constituency
Located at the entrance to the Darwin Waterfront, DVA recognises that its primary audience is made up of local artists and the general public. DVA’s goals are focused on effectively supporting the development of artists through creating comprehensive hands-on opportunities to support maturation of artistic practice, particularly in terms of curatorial refinement and professional presentation.
DVA aims to inform local, national and international audiences creating opportunities for participation whilst promoting local and Territory art and artists on national and international platforms.
